David McMahan
David is an experienced Pilates educator and movement specialist who currently serves as Senior Learning & Development Program Manager for Xponential Fitness. In this role, he furthers the development and implementation of teacher training programs across multiple national boutique fitness brands, ensuring educational consistency, quality, and impact. With a deep passion for Pilates and movement education, he has dedicated his career to developing high-quality teacher training programs that empower teachers and elevate client experiences.
David’s path as an educator was shaped by the work and influence of first-generation Pilates Elder Ron Fletcher. Through Ron’s distinctive approach combining expressive movement, breath, and precision, David discovered his passion for empowering bodies through the Pilates method. This inspiration guided his work as Director of Continuing Education for Fletcher Pilates, where he led international teacher training initiatives and mentored instructors across the US, Europe, Asia, and South America. He later served as Director of Training & Technique for Pure Barre, further advancing instructor development and technical refinement on a national scale.
David earned his MFA in Dance from the University of California, Irvine and is a graduate of the University of Arizona School of Dance. He performed professionally before shifting his focus to educator development and now serves as a faculty member at Orange Coast College, where he promotes accessible, inclusive Pilates teacher education. He is also a former President of the Pilates Method Alliance Board of Directors, where he supported the advancement of professional standards across the Pilates industry.
